Jimmy recently read 3 new graphic novels from one of his favorite comics publishers, Top Shelf Productions. They Called Us Enemy by George Takei with co-writers Justin Eisinger and Steven Scott and art by Harmony Becker is a stunning tale of Takei's life in the Japanese intermment camps as a child during World War 2. Takei walks us through his parents' struggle to keep their heads up, his innocence during that time and what he learned after growing up. It's a tale that will not leave you.
Highwayman by Koren Shadmi is a futuristic story of a man on a journey trying to find out his purpose in life. In his travels and over the years, he runs across what becomes a barren landscape and very few people. But, he may find some just like him and he has to decide if that's good or bad. Sometimes, you may not always want to know your real story.
And finally, Penny Nichols by MK Reed and Greg Means with art by Matt Wiegle is a super fun tale of a woman finding what she wants to do in life. Stuck in job after dull job, Penny just wants to find something meaningful to do. When she stumbles across these amateur horror filmmakers, she thinks she may have found her calling. That is, if she can get through all the fake blood and cheesy scripts.
